Very happy that I was instrumental in cementing that bond you so eloquently write about.
Stay in touch, Major!

It was way back in May 1988, I had just returned to my unit in Delhi, from IPKF in Sri lanka. The CO Col DD Sharma had called me in his cabin with instructions to proceed to Sikkim for a firing trial of one equipment. . Being a young bachelor, ready to take any challenge have nodded “Yes Sir”, saluted and had moved out… So next day early morning at 0600 hrs, with a bed roll and a metallic box containing my all belongings, had boarded NE Frontier Express for New Jal paiguridh.. It was next around 0930 hrs I had got down at NJP. Since my conveyance was yet to arrive, I went for stroll in the market.. It was here that I saw this Hobner 12 string guitar in a music shop. Since I had some idea about guitar, I requested the shopkeeper to let me have a feel of it. He had tuned it and had given it to me. I had played it and I was bit fascinated by its rich sound quality much better than 6 string guitar.. Since the price was quoted to me was Rs 800/- which far surpassed the cash I had in my pocket, I requested him to keep it for me as I would buy it within a weeks time.. I still remember the shopkeeper a bengali gentleman, seeing me in my army overall, had assured me and had asked me to initial on guitars backside, which I did. After three or four days I had sent one of my unit jawan Naik Harish TP, with cash to collect the guitar. ..When I moved to 17 Div sec in north Sikkim I took this guitar. My sewadar took exclusive care and caution to carry it.. ,Often in evening with a peg of Old Monk, I enjoyed singing with accompaniment by my great Hobner.. So these were the initial days when I developed a bond for this instrument..
